Yeo's Marks 50 Years Milestone With The Nation
21 August 2007, Petaling Jaya... From quaint little villages to sky scraping towers, from dusty old roads to highways, from manual typewriters to Information Technology, Malaysia has certainly come a long way since achieving independence 50 years ago. These changes mark not an aged nation, but a young and thriving one. Similarly Yeo Hiap Seng (Malaysia) Berhad (Yeo's), which is marking 50 years presence in Malaysia this year, has scored a resounding triumph to be a part of this young and progressive country.
The pioneer and dominant market leader in Botanical Beverages such as chrysanthemum tea, soya bean milk, cincau, lychee, sugarcane, water chestnut, winter melon tea and ice tea lemon, marked its milestone by launching its new look in conjunction with the 50th Merdeka anniversary celebrations and its 50 years presence in Malaysia.
Another Yeo's product which has also undergone a face-lift is Cintan instant noodles. Cintan is Malaysia's first branded instant noodles and, one of Malaysia's most preferred household brand, which is recognised as the best and springiest noodles ever and a source of protein.
The new Yeo's and Cintan refreshing packaging which are modern, youthful and contemporary, were unveiled at the One World Hotel today by Owen Ow, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Yeo's.
The facelift, which incorporates a new creative packaging design and logo, gives an upbeat characteristic to both the Botanical Beverages and Cintan Noodles; which now comes complete with a new refreshing packaging. The new Yeo's and Cintan packaging graphics further uplift the image, refresh and create more appeal while maintaining the core characteristics of the brands.
"Fifty years after its independence, Malaysia has undergone a tremendous transformation to become a thriving developing country, often considered a "role model" by its Southeast Asian neighbours for its economic and political stability, multicultural harmony and steady progress. Similarly, Yeo's has also undergone a transformation to reinforce its position as the pioneer and market leader in botanical beverages as well as instant noodles," said Ow.
"While we may have grown older in terms of the number of years we have established ourselves in Malaysia, I am proud to say that Yeo's is 50 years 'young' due to our ability to conform ourselves through times of change. Yeo's capability to adapt and to transcend with time with the Next Wave enables us to bring more excitement, innovation and renovation to our brand in addition to increasing its potential as a global brand,"
Explaining the concept of Yeo's Next Wave, Ow said that the new packaging was developed as a result of the company's ability to predict, respond to and capitalize on change.
"We know that Yeo's has grown to become more than a Trademark. Consumers consider Yeo's a "Trustmark", but in order to reinforce our position as a market leader we need to move with the times and prepare Yeo's to be a "Lovemark"," said Ow.
"Families have changed a lot in the past 50 years and we need to reflect that in our logo, our packaging and the products we offer. In order to retain these consumers, many of whom have grown up with Yeo's products in their household, we need to change and grow with them as well," said Ow.
Ow is confident that the modern and contemporary packaging of Yeo's and Cintan will not only appeal to the younger generation but will draw the attention of the older ones as well as it still retains its old charm albeit in a more fresh perspective.
We've drank it, eaten it and we love it simply because it brought us joy and comfort. Springy noodles with mouth watering flavourings to whet appetites and drinks that kept us cool all year round. It's still keeping us refreshed and filled today! Yeo's chrysanthemum tea, soya bean milk, cincau, lychee, sugarcane, water chestnut, winter melon tea, ice tea lemon, Cintan Asli, Cintan Curry, Cintan Assam Laksa, Cintan Tom Yam, Cintan Mushroom Chicken, Cintan Soto Ayam, Cintan Vegetarian, Cintan Mi Goreng Ala Indonesia and Cintan Mi Goreng Spicy. Love at first bite, Love at first sip or both! Yeo's, the natural choice.

Made possible through a co-branding partnership agreement between Yeo's and the Canadian Soybean Exporters' Association (CSEA) which falls under the Canadian Government's patronage, Yeo's is the first company in Malaysia and the first global F & B brand to collaborate with the CSEA to feature the Canada Brand icon. The Canada Brand symbol represents the use of Canadian soybeans of the highest quality standards in the manufacturing process, certified by the CSEA.

Speaking at the official launch and exchange of agreement ceremony graced by the High Commissioner of Canada, His Excellency David G. Summers, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Yeo's, Owen Ow said "We are truly honoured to be given the opportunity to collaborate with the CSEA and the privilege of being the first company in Malaysia and globally, outside of Canada, to do so. Through this significant alliance, we want to continue to build Yeo's as a "trust mark" to a "love mark" by taking yet another initiative to ensure our growing customer base consume only the best soy milk made from the best soybean. The Canada Brand icon on Yeo's soy milk packaging further reinforces that Yeo's soy milk is only produced from the highest quality 100% non-GMO Canadian soybeans that are quality certified by the CSEA."
Owen added, "Yeo's was the first Malaysian company to commercially produce packaged soy milk in 1955 and the first company in the world to introduce soy milk in tetrahedron on-way paper containers. Since then, Yeo's has constantly evolved to make improvements in processing, packaging formats and to using higher quality soy. Yeo's soy derives its exceptional quality and taste of soy milk from the beans and processing which ensures quality. Our leading position in the soy beverage category is attributed to Yeo's on-going commitment to deliver premium soy milk that meet consumers' preference towards health drinks with lower sugar content through our "Better for You" products."

Canadian soybeans are recognised internationally for their stable quality, higher consistency in shape and size for a better grind and higher protein content.
As one of the most widely researched, health promoting foods available, soy beans have naturally occurring compounds which are good for promoting health. Key benefits of soybeans are related to their excellent protein content, high levels of essential fatty acids, numerous vitamins and minerals, isoflavones and their fiber. Soy protein is said to lower cholesterol levels and the combined effects of soy protein and soy isoflavones lowers blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

Over 40,000 Primary School Children Enjoy The Fruity Goodness Of Yeo's La Fruit Drink
(Yeo's triangular pack makes an exciting comeback-La!)
30 June 2008, Petaling Jaya... To coincide with their corporate responsibility efforts which supports the on-going Yeo's "Stay Healthy, Yeo's the Natural Choice" campaign, Yeo Hiap Seng (Malaysia) Berhad (Yeo's) presented over 80, 000 packets of Yeo's latest fruit drink, "La" to 40 primary schools in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor via a road show activity. Held in conjunction with the inaugural launch of the La Fruit Drink, amongst the lucky recipients were SK Puchong Perdana, SKJC Yuk Chai, SK Seksyen 2, SRJK Chung Hua, SRJK Kheow Bin, SK Setiawangsa, SK Raja Muda, SK Telok Pulai and others.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Yeo's, Owen Ow said, "The Yeo's initiated La Road Show is in line with our corporate responsibility efforts to provide a platform to school children to encourage them to make healthier choices in their everyday food & beverage selection. The Yeo's La Fruit Drink range, made from real fruit juice, provides a refreshing and healthier alternative as an option to the kids today."
Owen added, "We coincided the La Road Show with the inaugural launch of the La Fruit Drink to mark the significant and nostalgic comeback of the triangular pack! School children in the 1950s were first introduced to Yeo's beverage in triangular packs which was very well received then. Incidentally, Yeo's was the first FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) company in Malaysia to introduce the triangular packed beverage and also the first to reintroduce the concept into the market once again. We wanted to emulate the same kind of excitement amongst children today as the triangular packed beverage was once enjoyed by their grandparents and possibly their parents when they were children. What's more, in keeping to the nostalgic essence of the brand, the La Fruit Drink range is still kept to an affordable price of 70 - 80 cents per pack to benefit all."
The La Road Show, which saw the distribution of 2, 000 packs of La Fruit Drink to each of the 40 schools, officially ran from March, 2008 until June, 2008. The birth of the 'La' brand name is derived from the local Malaysian lingo of endearment ¨C "Lah", used in everyday conversations; Please-lah, let's go-lah, yes-lah, just to name a few. Riding on this sense of familiarity and nostalgia that can instantly struck a chord with Malaysians; Yeo's introduced the one and only La!
The interactive road show required each child to say "La" in true Malaysian fashion to receive their free sample of the La Fruit Drink from Yeo's representatives. The children cheered gleefully for their choice of Orange La, Grape La, or Strawberry La. A task that was thoroughly enjoyed by the children!
The thirst-quenching option, the La Fruit Drink range, made from real fruit juice, is available in three tasty fruity options of Strawberry La, Orange La and Grape La. Each of the colourful La Fruit Drink triangular packed drink can be easily identified with the fruit motifs of grape, strawberry and orange to excite taste buds. Not only can the La Fruit Drink be enjoyed straight from the box, once frozen, you can literally eat your drink! One product with two different means of enjoyment.
The La Fruit Drink range is available at school canteens, sundry shops, grocery shops, mini and large supermarkets and other outlets.

Through this significant alliance, we want to do our utmost as a responsible corporate organisation and to play our part towards community welfare. This is not the first time that Yeo's has embarked on a safety campaign. In fact, we ran our first public safety campaign in 1988. This marks yet another contribution by Yeo's to ensure that we are aware of our own safety and also to encourage everyone to do their part to help the authorities to help make our communities a safer place."
Ow said, "To facilitate this campaign, we made it possible for our popular range of Yeo's Asian Drink beverages in tetra brik pack comprising Chrysanthemum Tea, Soya Bean Milk, Winter Melon, Lychee and Sugar Cane to carry a printed ¡®message' on the back panel. The 'message' will invite members of the public to sms to a designated number to register as a Rakan Cop. "It is only just and fair that we are entitled to a crime-free environment and a life free from fear. We need to regain the space lost to crime. We should not have to worry about snatch thieves every time we go for a walk. We should not worry every time we leave our children and loved ones at home fearing that they may be exposed to predators of the human kind. Our children deserve a safe and healthy space in which to play and grow." said Tan Sri Lee.
Stressing on the importance of the "Stay Safe with Yeo's" Crime Prevention campaign, Tan Sri Lee said that it was imperative for talks and discussions on ways to tackle the critical issues and implement measures that will make our cities safer.
"We need to make Malaysia a competitive safe and safe place for work, play and investment by foreign direct investors. A crime-free environment is an important prerequisite to our business competitiveness and attractiveness as an investment venue." he added.
"Polis DiRaja Malaysia has a long history and collaboration in security and safety but our shared interests have always been broader than just fighting crime." said Ketua Polis Selangor Dato' Khalid Abu Bakar.
In his speech which was delivered by Tuan Arjunaidi bin Mohamed, Ketua Polis Daerah Petaling Jaya, Dato' Khalid said, "We share a common view of the importance of enhancing safety and promoting prevention measures to curb crime - a common perspective on the importance of safety, a common commitment to help improve lives in the country, a common commitment to internal security as well as a common concern for general security.
"We may all wish that the solutions to our challenges were that simple, but the realities of our current security situation and therefore the shape of our challenges are a lot more complicated than some popular views would suggest." said Dato' Khalid.
The police chief said that despite the security challenges faced, the police force has always found ways to overcome them. Dato' Khalid also commended Yeo's, AIA and the 1-Utama Shopping Complex for addressing security and safety risks in an innovative manner, which still allowed people to go about their daily activities without fear or crime and urged other industries to follow suit.

While there are some who are simply enjoying their favourite Malaysian meal as they gleefully set their sights on the wall-mounted TV. In all that pandemonium of noise, waiters meander attentively through the crowd taking orders and serving drinks. Sounds all too familiar? Yes, this is a typical scenario at a 'mamak' restaurant.
Take a closer look at each table and you will notice one common beverage that is ubiquitous. As a true-blue Malaysian, you've guessed it right! Our local teh is still the "must-have" drink at all "mamak' restaurants.
In keeping with this innately Malaysian tradition and much to the delight of all, BOH Plantations Sdn Bhd (BOH) and Yeo Hiap Seng (Malaysia) Berhad have launched this authentically Malaysian beverage, BOH Teh-O-Ais, in a ready-to-drink form.
BOH and Yeo's, two of Malaysia's most well respected brands, have joined forces to refresh Malaysian taste buds with the all new BOH Teh-O-Ais. Synonymous with the Malaysian culture, BOH Teh-O-Ais is set to become the preferred choice of beverage with friends and family anytime and anywhere!
The new BOH Teh-O-Ais was jointly launched by the Chief Executive Officer of BOH Plantations, Ms Caroline Russell and Managing Director and CEO of Yeo's, Mr. Owen Ow in an ala-Malaysian fashion. The unique alliance in the beverage industry between two established homegrown brands was marked with the exchanging of documents between Russell and Ow to jointly manufacture, market and distribute BOH Teh-O-Ais.
"We are truly pleased to collaborate with BOH, another well established Malaysian brand, to offer a bona fide local drink that will no doubt appeal to Malaysians of all ages anywhere and anytime of the day." said Ow.
"Drinking tea at the local mamak stalls or just about anywhere has indeed become a way of life for Malaysians. We are confident that the new convenient ready-to-drink BOH Teh-O-Ais will provide consumers' with choices to suit their taste buds through its refreshing variants."
Ow explained, "The alliance between BOH and Yeo's is especially significant as this is the first time that both companies with strong legacies are forming a strategic alliance to manufacture, market and distribute the BOH Teh-O-Ais. Today's lifestyle is no longer how it used to be 20 years ago. Life as we know is full of deadlines and stress. Due to this many of us compromise on eating healthy. Rarely (or close to never) do we have the time to plan our meals so that the food groups we are eating are in the right proportions. Hence, we are always on the lookout for products that would complement our tight schedule.
"With 40 years of strong brand building, Cintan has grown to become more than a trademark. This nutritious instant noodle is 100% steam cooked and air dried. As a result, making it low in fat and cholesterol free,"explained Mr. Ow.

Therefore for those who are particular about their diet, there is good news for you as Cintan has used this advice in the concoction of Cintan Nutri Noodle. As a dedication on providing only the best, this nutritional meal has no added MSG and one serving of Cintan Nutri Noodle contains less than 3g of fat, while being filled with at least 5 different vitamins and minerals. 400,000 PACKS OF YEO'S SOY MILK DISTRIBUTED TO 60 SCHOOLS VIA YEO'S PROGRAM SUSU SOYA SEKOLAH
14 October 2010, Petaling Jaya ¡. To coincide with their on-going efforts to reach out and educate students on the nutritional value of soy milk as a healthy lifestyle beverage choice, Yeo Hiap Seng (Malaysia) Berhad (Yeo's) today officially launched their five-month corporate responsibility initiative, the Yeo's Program Susu Soya Sekolah. Under the purview of the programme, Yeo's will provide educational talks on balanced food diet and distribute 400,000 packs of Yeo's soy milk to 60 schools from October 2010 until March 2011. In addition, the Yeo's Program Susu Soya Sekolah undertakes the role to educate students towards preserving the environment by learning about recycling.
Activities lined-up as part of the campaign include free serving of Yeo's Soy Milk; educational talks on balanced food diet, soy nutrition and eating habits which includes quizzes; Yeo's Colouring Contest and the Yeo's Peraduan Antara Sekolah-Binaan Kitar Semula Kreatif 1 Malaysia, a recycling competition amongst participating schools. To kick-off the launch, Standard 5 and 6 pupils from Sekolah Sri Kebangsaan Sri Kelana pitted their culinary skills for the best Yeo's Soy Milk shake using healthy and natural ingredients.
In attendance to witness the official launch of Yeo's Program Susu Soya Sekolah which took place at the Sekolah Kebangsaan Sri Kelana, Petaling Jaya was Pn Hajah Nafsiah Binti Jaapar, Pegawai Pelajaran Daerah, Unit Pembangunan Kemanusiaan, Pejabat Pelajaran Daerah (PPD), Jabatan Pelajaran Negeri Selangor (JPN Selangor), Mr. Vincent Chui, General Manager-Marketing of Yeo's and Puan Rohayah Mohamad Sarif, Principal of Sekolah Kebangsaan Sri Kelana.
Mr Vincent Chui, General Manager-Marketing of Yeo Hiap Seng (Malaysia) Berhad (Yeo's) said, "In line with our on-going corporate tagline 'Lead a joyful Life' that encourages a happy and healthy living proposition, the Yeo's Program Susu Soya Sekolah aims to instil the importance of a balanced diet amongst our young generation and at the same time create awareness on the nourishing value of soy milk. School children today are exposed to so many food options and sometimes it's easy to make wrong food choices due to busy schedules and lifestyle habits. By arming young people with proper knowledge of what constitutes a good diet for healthy growth and that wholesome food can also be tasty, they can then make these choices for themselves and carry this habit into their adult years."
Amongst the 60 schools participating in this campaign are Sekolah Kebangsaan Sri Kelana, Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampung Jawa (2), Sekolah Kebangsaan Alam Damai, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (C) Naam Kheung, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (C) Choong Wen, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (T) Batu Caves and Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (T) Kajang. Approximately 100,000 students will benefit from this programme.
"The children will also be taught about preserving the environment by learning about recycling via educational talks on recycling-related activities. Through the Yeo's Peraduan Antara Sekolah: Binaan Kitar Semula Kreatif 1 Malaysia, schools will be invited to enter a recycling competition that facilitates the creation of an "eco-friendly" structure using empty Yeo's soy milk cartons themed "1Malaysia". The school with the most creative structure within the stipulated guideline and adherence to the theme will be deemed the winner. Cash prizes won by the winning schools will be at the liberty of the school to use for school development programmes," said Vincent.
This will definitely be useful once the children have consumed their Yeo's soy milk beverage, added Vincent. Participating schools will also be invited to enter the Yeo's Colouring Contest to showcase their skills as well as to drive awareness on the nutritional benefits of soy.
"We welcome the participation of the private sector through efforts such as these that will ultimately benefit schools and their pupils taking part in the Yeo's Program Susu Soya Sekolah. In line with the government's objective of developing individual potential through quality education, it is also important for students to have proper nutrition knowledge and to put this knowledge into practice to stay active and healthy," said En. Sazali Baharudin, Penolong Pegawai Pelajaran Daerah, Unit Pembangunan Kemanusiaan, Pejabat Pelajaran Daerah (PPD), Jabatan Pelajaran Negeri Selangor (JPN Selangor).
He added, "Through the cooperation with Yeo's, students will gain valuable knowledge on healthy diet practices as well as efforts that can help preserve the environment."

YEO's CHRYSANTHEMUM TEA MONTH LEADS THE WAY TO A JOYFUL LIFE WITH FAMILY & FRIENDS
16 November 2010, Petaling Jaya - Since 1967, family and friends have come together with Yeo's Chrysanthemum Tea at social gatherings, wedding celebrations and festivals. In celebration of this nostalgia-tinged journey that has fostered relationships over the years and in encouragement of its continuity, Yeo Hiap Seng (Malaysia) Berhad (Yeo's) declared the month of November 2010 as Yeo's Chrysanthemum Tea Month at its official launch held at The Curve, Mutiara Damansara last Friday.
Yeo's Chrysanthemum Tea Month kicked-off with an enlightening chit-chat session with Mr. Vincent Chui, General Manager -Marketing of Yeo Hiap Seng (Malaysia) Berhad (Yeo's), Mr. Paul Jambunathan, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Sunway Medical Centre and TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) Dr. Loh Ki Ho, President of the Malaysian Association of Traditional Chinese Naturopathy.
The panel respectively shared their views on the significance of Yeo's Chrysanthemum Tea Month and the interactive activities that Yeo's had in store for families and friends this month, the topic of togetherness and how we could "tighten" our connection with family and friends amidst busy lifestyles and finally, an insight into chrysanthemum's nutritional value, its symbolic history and how the flower had "evolved" over the years both as a tasty beverage and for medicinal purposes.
Also in attendance were Yeo's partners for the event, Ms Nicole Lim, Assistant Marketing Manager from Canon Marketing (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd., Puan Nor Iliana Abdul Halim, Editor of Bintang Kecil magazine and students of Taylor's University - School of Architecture, Building and Design.
Mr. Vincent Chui, General Manager (Marketing) of Yeo Hiap Seng (Malaysia) Berhad (Yeo's) said, "We also chose November as Yeo's Chrysanthemum Tea Month in celebration of chrysanthemum as the Birth Month Flower of November and the flower's association to cheerfulness and optimism as aligned to Yeo's significant tagline, "Lead a Joyful Life". We believe that Yeo's Chrysanthemum Tea has certainly brought people closer in celebration of togetherness, joy and health over the last 40 years, and we hope to see this carrying on for a long time coming."
An all-time favourite, Vincent added that Malaysians of all ages really know and appreciate their tea whether it's drunk hot or cold. Not only is it a soothing beverage that can be enjoyed anytime especially on a hot sunny day, Yeo's Chrysanthemum Tea is also filled with nutritional value.
Yeo's Chrysanthemum Tea is made from the finest natural chrysanthemum flowers known as Chrysanthemum Morifolium from Hangzhou, China - the best chrysanthemum flower in the nation and grown in a high quality controlled environment. The tea is processed through the Ultra Heat Treatment (UHT) technology to retain its natural taste and nutritional content with no added preservatives or flavouring. Yeo's Chrysanthemum Tea is the perfect drink with natural goodness which can be enjoyed on-the-go. So, let's rekindle memories and establish togetherness during this special month of November in celebration of Yeo's Chrysanthemum Tea Month with a cup of Yeo's Chrysanthemum Tea.”
Mr. Paul Jambunathan, Consultant Clinical Psychologist from Sunway Medical Centre and expert on adult and children psychology, shared his expertise on how we can continue to tighten ties with family and friends amidst hectic lifestyles. Chrysanthemums require adequate sunlight and water plus nutrition-rich soil in order to grow beautifully. In the same way, the immediate family forms the primary environment that families need in order to develop and produce well-balanced individuals. As the Chrysanthemum is a product of its 'growth ingredients', which in turn has a positive effect on others, the child is a symptom of his primary environment and it will have an effect on his health and society," Paul said.
"The bond between family members can be strengthened through fostering openness at home. In addition, Malaysians should ensure the quality of family interactions in the form of meaningful conversations and all-inclusive activities that involve participation from the entire family," he added.
Sharing the historical significance of chrysanthemum at the Yeo's Chrysanthemum Tea Month, TCM Dr. Loh Ki Ho, President of the Malaysian Association of Traditional Chinese Naturopathy said, "The ancient Chinese revered the chrysanthemum flower as one of the 'Four Noble Ones' which represent the four seasons. Blooming in its full glory during autumn, the chrysanthemum is the Flower of November and also symbolises happiness, optimism and joy. The Chinese believed that chrysanthemum brings laughter, long life and happiness in families."
Chrysanthemum tea has always been a highly popular flower tea due to its sweet fragrance, refreshing taste and ease of preparation. Regarded as an ideal aid for detoxification in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), chrysanthemum tea is known to alleviate 'body heat' and toxic materials accumulated in the body. Prolonged moderate drinking of the tea is known to be beneficial to the liver and eyes. Getting together with family and friends over cups of soothing chrysanthemum tea has been a healthy cornerstone of Asian culture for many generations,"he added.

The sculpture competition marks the final activity following a series of educational talks in the Yeo's Program Susu Soya Sekolah, a corporate responsibility initiative by Yeo Hiap Seng (Malaysia) Berhad, (Yeo's). The campaign which saw the distribution of 400,000 packs of Yeo's soy milk to 60 schools in Klang Valley and Putrajaya from October 2010 until March 2011, imparted a recycling mindset and the positive health benefits of a balanced diet amongst students. Also in attendance at the event were Mr. Ong Chay Seng, Chief Operating Officer of Yeo's, Mr. Vincent Chui, General Manager - Marketing of Yeo's and Puan Rohayah Mohamad Sarif, Principal of Sekolah Kebangsaan Sri Kelana, the event host.
Mr. Vincent Chui, General Manager -Marketing of Yeo's said, "Throughout the 5-month Yeo's Program Susu Soya Sekolah, we were indeed pleased and amazed by the enthusiasm and cooperation shown by all the participating schools. This has certainly helped us in achieving our objective of instilling a recycling mindset, a catalyst to the preservation of our environment amongst the young for the future as well as reiterating the importance of maintaining healthy lifestyle habits through good nutritional knowledge."
"The Yeo's Peraduan Antara Sekolah - Binaan Kitar Semula Kreatif 1Malaysia competition was a great experience as it ignited the essence of the theme: to work in unity as a team regardless of age, race, religion and creed to create remarkable sculptures using empty Yeo's soy milk packs. In line with the government's vision and initiatives, the competition aimed to instill the intrinsic values of the 1Malaysia concept in the hearts and minds of our future generations," said Vincent.
The second prize winner, Sekolah Kebangsaan Putrajaya Presint 11 (1) and the third prize winner, Sekolah Kebangsaan Seksyen 1 Bandar Kinrara were each presented with RM 5,000 and RM 3,000 respectively for their winning 1Malaysia symbol and Hibiscus sculptures. Four (4) consolation cash prizes of RM 500.00 each were given to Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) Kajang, Sekolah Kebangsaan Cochrane Perkasa, Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Megah and Sekolah Kebangsaan Putrajaya Presint 9(2). All cash prizes worth RM 18,000 from the competition will be channeled into school development programmes.
Inspired by the enthusiasm of the schools, Vincent added that Yeo's Program Susu Soya Sekolah 2 will move ahead to reach an additional 100 schools in the Klang Valley. As with the original initiative, Yeo's Program Susu Soya Sekolah 2 will bring educational talks on the importance of a balanced food diet plus distribute Yeo's soy milk to the students.
"We certainly welcome the participation of the private sector through efforts such as these that ultimately benefit schools and their students. It is significant to have activities that are in line with the government's objective of developing individual potential through quality education. The children were given a platform to exercise creativity, problem solving and demonstrate leadership skills as well as embrace a recycling mindset. The competition has certainly provided an excellent opportunity and platform for students and teachers to work on a project together to foster a stronger bond between generations,"said Puan Rahanim Binti Abd Rahim, Timbalan Pegawai Pelajaran Daerah, Pejabat Pelajaran Daerah Petaling Utama, Selangor.
